About the Photographer:

I was born and raised a Cleveland on the eastside suburbs.  I graduated from Shaker Hts. High School in 1981 and then from The College of Wooster in 1985.   Since graduation, I have worked at PPG Industries (thank you Morris!) as a Development Polymer Chemist which has allowed me to travel all over the world.  While I work on the westside of Cleveland, I continue to live here on the eastside.  I started to get into photography a number of years ago as way to relax and to take pictures of our kids which led me to started hiking and bringing my camera along.  After a short while,  I hiked just to take photos - I was hooked!

To improve my skills, I read a lot (loved the Ansell Adams series!) and took my first photography class on shooting and developing film class at the Cleveland Photographic Society.  After that point, I was really hooked!  Imagine combining chemistry and photography...art and science together!  (Yeah, I know people have been doing that for centuries, but it was still an epiphany for me...)  So I built a darkroom in my basement and I was in heaven.  To further my learning, I took a number of classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art where I learned about lighting, posing, darkroom special effects, color printing and most importantly to enjoy being in awe of other students work.  I met a number of adult students who work would regularly blow me away and that has always spurred me on to improve my skill.  No matter how good you are, no matter how much praise you may get, you can always learn to do better and should.

When I do photography whether it be while hiking, at a family gathering or at a wedding, I feel 'in the zone'; it just feels rights and I just truly enjoy it!
